Veal is a fantastic product and a delicious and nutritious choice for adding variety to meals. The meat is tender and easy to digest. It is also low in calories and in that respect compares very favorably with beef and pork. Veal goes well with vegetables, herbs, sauces and all kind of side-dishes.
Participants in the event had a chance to sample veal dishes during a walking lunch tasting prepared by Stephane Foray, chef de cuisine at the Dutch embassy and Dutch master chef Bert van Beurten.
Dishes served were veal tartare with almonds, followed by vitello tonnato and delicious baked sweetbread with teriyaki sauce. A vol-au-vent with a tasty filling of mushroom ragout and veal filet served on a bed of cauliflower mousse and veal gravy.
Japan is an important market for the Dutch veal sector and as veal fits in perfectly with the high quality standards and healthy lifestyle of the Japanese consumer, expectations for an increase in exports are high.
VanDrie Group attaches particular importance to lasting partnerships and Mr. Swinkels also expressed the hope, that the event will further enhance bilateral business relations between Japan and the Netherlands.
